'A Christmas Carol'-inspired Teddy Bear Gift
The Spirit of Christmas — ‘A Christmas Carol’-Inspired Bear Gift
A little piece of an old-fashioned Christmas, created to be treasured long after the decorations are packed away.
Inspired by the warmth, nostalgia and enduring message of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, The Spirit of Christmas is an original Bear and Rhyme keepsake created for those who still believe Christmas should feel a little magical.
This is not simply a bear in a box. It is a carefully assembled collection of traditional Christmas details, storytelling and keepsakes, designed to evoke the atmosphere of Christmases remembered — glowing lamps, old carols, handwritten promises, brass bells and the timeless reminder to carry kindness with us throughout the year.
A gift prepared by hand
Each Spirit of Christmas gift is individually prepared and hand-finished by Bear and Rhyme. From the hand-knitted burgundy cowl worn by the bear to the miniature Christmas Promise scroll, ribbon details, keepsake pieces and hand-applied wax seal, each element is carefully brought together to create the finished presentation.
This is not a factory-produced gift set. Each one takes considerable time to prepare, which is why only a very limited number can be made available. Small variations in hand-finished details are part of the individual character of each gift.
At the heart of the gift sits a wonderfully soft teddy bear, approximately 20cm high when sitting, dressed especially for the collection in a hand-knitted burgundy cowl. Around his neck hangs his distinctive “God Bless Us All” keepsake tag.
The gift also contains the original Bear and Rhyme poem “The Spirit of Christmas”, created around the ideas of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come — remembering the Christmases that shaped us, appreciating what we have today and considering the kindness we carry forward.
A traditional presentation of “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” adds another touch of Dickensian Christmas nostalgia, while the miniature “My Christmas Promise” scroll invites the recipient to record:
• This Christmas I will…• Someone I will remember…• One kindness I will carry into the New Year…
A small brass Christmas bell hangs from burgundy velvet ribbon with its own tiny “God Bless Us All” tag. It can be removed and hung on the Christmas tree year after year, becoming part of the recipient's own Christmas traditions.
The meaning behind the collection is told in “The Spirit of Christmas — The Story Behind the Gift”, hand-finished with a genuine wax seal, burgundy velvet ribbon and tiny Spirit of Christmas tag.
Everything is arranged inside a clear-sided presentation box with burgundy tissue paper, creating a gift that feels special before it has even been opened.

A Christmas gift for all generations
This collection was deliberately designed not to belong to one particular age group. It could be given to a parent or grandparent who remembers a more traditional Christmas, an adult son or daughter who loves Dickens and old-fashioned festive traditions, a close friend, or simply someone for whom you want to choose something particularly meaningful.
It is especially suited to lovers of traditional Christmas, Dickens, A Christmas Carol, literature, nostalgic gifts, sentimental keepsakes and old-fashioned festive traditions.
A very limited Bear and Rhyme collection
This is an unusually detailed gift to prepare, with numerous individually prepared and hand-finished elements. For that reason, only a small quantity will be available.
If you're looking for something that feels genuinely different — something unlikely to be found beneath every other Christmas tree — The Spirit of Christmas was created with exactly that in mind.
The teddy bear is made using sustainable materials by a British toy maker and carries applicable UKCA/CE compliance information. Suitable from birth; recommended from 12 months.
Please note: The complete presentation contains small components, ribbon and a metal bell and is a decorative keepsake gift rather than a children's toy. Colours and positioning of individually prepared elements may vary very slightly due to the hand-finished nature of the presentation.
Your gift will be securely protected within a rigid double-layer cardboard outer box and sent by Royal Mail Tracked 48.
